How often should you wash your car?
Cars should be washed regularly. This is because maintenance is important to help keep the car’s value. Especially salt and grit in winter and pollen or bird droppings in summer can attack the paint. These should be removed quickly. As a rule of thumb, wash the car at least once a month. Frequent drivers should wash it several times a month, depending on the degree of grime.
When should you wash the car?
The car should be washed at any time of the year. In spring, it is important to remove the traces of winter. It is also advisable to remove pollen from the paint. In summer, heavy contamination such as the remains of insects or bird droppings should be removed as soon as possible. This is because the intense heat caused by sunlight can burn dirt into the paint, making it difficult to remove. In autumn, leaves should be removed from the car, and in winter regular car washing is important so that road salt and grit cannot cause damage to the paint.
Generally, don’t wash the car in the midday sun, as cleaning solutions tend to dry quicker, due to the heat. This can damage the paint. In winter, washing the car should be avoided in subzero temperatures, as rubber seals and plastic parts, in particular, can be damaged by sudden temperature changes.
